Egypt’s stocks gain $664m, indices in green

Egypt’s stocks ended higher on Wednesday with gains worth 5.2 billion Egyptian pounds (US$664 million).

The market capitalisation has reached 440.052 billion pounds during the closing session of Wednesday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 surged by 1.82 percent to 7050.02 points.

The newly-launched EGX50 EWI index went up by 1.84 percent to 1189.05 points.

EGX20 soared by 2.18 percent to 6740.88 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 boosted by 2.05 percent to 381.77 points. The price index, EGX100 increased jumped by 1.40 percent to 823.05 points.

Turnovers low

On Wednesday, the bourse’s trading volume has reached 170.346 million securities, with turnovers closed at EGP 539.248 million, exchanged through 16,367 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 162 listed securities have been traded in; 16 declined, 106 advanced; while 35 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and non-Arab investors were net buyers on Wednesday getting 6.29% and 9.95% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 1.504 million and EGP 17.821 million, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, Egyptian investors were net sellers seizing 83.76% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 19.325 million, excluding the deals.
