Egypt’s Tatweer Misr, Schneider Electric ink MOU to unlock new levels of building value

Egypt’s property developer, Tatweer Misr said on Wednesday it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Egyptian Schneider Electric, specialised in digital transformation of energy management and automation.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Egyptian Investment Minister Sahar Nasr and Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Minister of State, an affiliate to the Minister of Economy and Finance of France.

According to the deal, Schneider Electric will team up with Tatweer Misr in building and designing smart city facilities in Tatweer Misr’s three projects; IL Monte Galala, Fouka Bay, and Bloomfields.

“Innovation is one of Tatweer Misr’s core values, and sustainability is a key word that is applied in all our projects” Ahmed Shalaby, Tatweer Misr’s chief executive and managing director said.

“The next generation of homes will gradually become more electric and will need to operate smarter and more efficiently to handle increased demand from a more technologically minded Modern Resident. In fact, by 2020, 30 percent of devices within buildings will be connected to the internet, providing significant opportunities for efficiency gains. Of course, we could not have found a better partner to provide all these services than Schneider Electric,” Shalaby added.

An innovative, agile solution that combines tried and tested management software with hardware, Schneider’s globally recognized state of the art solutionEcoStruxureTM enables Tatweer Misr to gain valuable insights from various data to make environments smarter, more secure and comfortable and up to 30 percent more efficient.

By connecting everything from sensors to services, this comprehensive solution integrates key systems such as energy, HVAC, lighting, fire safety, garbage disposal, and security to make the most of new opportunities presented by the IoT.

Walid Shetta, Schneider Electric’s Regional Cluster President North East Africa and Levant, said: “The implementation of EcoStruxureTM provides Tatweer Misr with a opportunity to improve their facilities lifetime efficiency, lower maintenance costs, reduced energy consumption, increased equipment life span, and higher occupant comfort and  asset value while reducing operating costs.”

“The proliferation of connected, intelligent systems and devices generates mountains of data that Tatweer Misr can now leverage from a central control station that monitors their three projects , making facility management in their projects as easy as ABC,” Shetta referred.

This is achievable through optimising facility management operations; tracking power consumption, allocating billing costs and conserving energy consumption in addition to monitoring building performance, proactively diagnosing issues and automatically converting data into predictable, actionable insights, across multiple aspects to resolve up to 80 percent of facility management issues remotely and reduce occupant complaints by 33 percent on average.

This will result in decreasing unscheduled maintenance by as much as 29 percent and reducing energy costs by up to 30 percent. According to estimates 42 percent of the world’s energy is relegated to buildings. other estimates state that most of this energy, anywhere from 54 percent to 71 percent, is consumed by the heating, cooling and lighting systems.

“Through this partnership, Tatweer Misr is aiming to include the values of smart cities in all its projects through the use Schneider’s expertise and itsEcoStruxureTM smart solutions. We are very excited about the implementation of this platform because it offers so many advances for us in terms of facility management but more importantly for our residents and guests” commented Ahmed Shalaby. “

According this MoU, Tatweer Misr will be the fist Egyptian Real Estate company to implement a central control System connecting all its projects to provide its clients with a remote-control platform for all operational systems including, but not limited to, electricity, water, gas and electronic bills payment through a smart mobile app.
