Egypt’s tourism to thrive in modern, sophisticated way: Mashat

Minister of Tourism Rania al-Mashat promised that Egypt’s leading source of income will flourish back in a different way under several undergoing reform programs based on modern technology that will help speed the process in a “sophisticated way.”

Mashat’s statements came during her participation in ITB Berlin, where the Egyptian pavilion is said to have introduced local products in a creative way and on a wide scale, as it is stretched over an area of 1,178 square meters.

She further announced the ministry signed a contract with Beautiful Destinations Company, which uses modern technology that will help promote tourism in Egypt in a different way.

Mashat met with Norbert Fiebig, the president of the Deutscher Reise Verband (DRV), also known as German Travel Association on the second day of participating at ITB Berlin (Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin).

According to a statement issued by the Ministry on March 8, Mashat said her meeting with Fiebig tackled several issues regarding Egypt and Germany’s relations on many levels especially tourism. Both officials started their meeting talking about the positive signs regarding the increasing tourist movement coming to Egypt, especially from the German market, which is considered one of the most important tourist markets for Egypt.

ITB Berlin is known to be the world’s largest tourism trade fair. The companies represented at the fair include hotels, tourist boards, tour operators, system providers, airlines and car rental companies. ITB Berlin takes place annually in March at the Messe Berlin (Berlin’s exhibition grounds). 2019’s ITB Berlin is expected to last until March 10.
