Egypt’s Trade With EU Hit EGP17.5 bln In January 2013

The volume of Egypt’s trade with the European Union (EU) recorded EGP 17 billion in January 2013; hitting big surplus in the European balance of trade.

Reliable sources in Foreign Trade Sector told “Amwal Al Ghad” that Egypt’s exports to the EU last January reached EGP 2.7 billion, while Egypt’s imports from the EU recorded EGP 14.8 billion.

The main Egyptian exports to the EU were the chemical products, building materials, while the imports to the Egyptian markets were engineering and electronic commodities, food products and some textile.

The sources have confirmed that the Egyptian Ministry for Industry and Foreign Trade is seeking to achieve high growth rates of Egypt’s exports to the EU in the coming period; exploiting the decline of Egyptian Pound in return for Euro, to grant competitive advantage to the Egyptian products inside European markets.
