Egypt’s Sovereign Fund (TSFE) plans to launch a new industrial investment fund to support manufacturing, expand exports, and attract long-term investment into the sector, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid said on Tuesday.
Farid outlined progress on the proposed Egypt Industrial Investment Sub-Fund during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly to review key initiatives of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
The fund aims to increase foreign currency inflows, deepen local manufacturing, localise technology, expand industrial output and improve Egypt’s trade balance.
Farid said the industrial sector remains a key driver of economic growth, adding that the fund would provide financing and investment support to Egyptian and international manufacturers with advanced technological capabilities, helping position Egypt as a regional manufacturing and export hub.
Farid said TSFE would lead the fund, which is designed to attract long-term institutional capital through flexible investment structures and partnerships with strategic investors.
The minister also reviewed investment opportunities in priority industrial sectors, including machinery and equipment manufacturing, low-voltage electric vehicle batteries, pharmaceuticals, and vaccines, packaging materials, and phosphate fertilisers.
He outlined investment opportunities over the short and medium term, saying they are intended to support Egypt’s strategy to deepen local manufacturing, increase value-added production and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets.
