El-Morsi Hegazy Expects Signing IMF Deal Before Parliamentary Elections

The Egyptian government has sent the economic reform plan to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) last week to receive the US$ 4.8 billion loan, said the Egyptian Minister of Finance El-Morsi Hegazy.

IMF mission will visit Egypt during the next 10 days to discuss the economic reform plan needed to secure the long-awaited loan, he added.

The Minister expected the loan deal to be sealed before parliamentary elections as the country has taken steps towards reforming its economic and social systems. Voting in the four-round election process will start on April 22nd.

Hegazy noted that the government will implement the economic reform plan regardless whether it receives the loan or not.
