Erdoğan asks Musk to build Tesla factory in Türkiye

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan asked Tesla CEO Elon Musk to establish a seventh factory in Türkiye, during a meeting in New York City, the Turkish state-owned news agency said on Monday.

Erdogan told Musk that Türkiye would welcome cooperation on artificial intelligence and Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service. Musk said SpaceX wanted to secure the necessary license to offer Starlink in Türkiye.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Elon Musk spoke during a meeting at Turkish House in New York, as the president is in the U.S. to attend the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the news agency added.

It is worth mentioning that after this meeting, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk is in talks with Saudi Arabia to establish another factory in the Kingdom.
