Gazprom Mulls Providing Egypt with LNG Shipments Next Summer

Russia’s top natural gas producer Gazprom is considering to provide Egypt with liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments, Amwal Al Ghad has cited Eng. Taher Abdul Raheem – Chairman of the state-run Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. (EGAS) – as saying on Tuesday.

The Egyptian Abdul Raheem further stated that the Russian energy company Gazprom is currently outlining its gas shipment agreement with Egypt to include the amounts as well as prices, to be sent within a week to the Egyptian party.

Abdul Raheem has also referred to the meeting held last week between Egyptian officials and Gazprom representatives in London to discuss a gas shipment deal.

The gas shipment is needed to alleviate Egypt’s growing energy shortage since domestic consumption of natural gas amounts to 3.4 billion cubic feet during summer time.
