German flight heads to Egypt’s Hurghada from Budapest after terror threat cleared

A source in Egypt’s Hurghada International Airport said the German passenger plane that diverted to Budapest on Monday following a bomb threat will land in Hurghada at 9pm on Monday after the threat was cleared, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Hungary’s police said they found no explosives in the jet operated by German Condor airlines, which was heading from Berlin to Hurghada and had turned back from Serbian airspace after the alert.

“Police have finished the search and have not found any explosives or explosive devices,” Hungarian police spokeswoman Viktoria Csiszer-Kovacs said.

German airline Condor said it had received an “unspecified threat” made via telephone.

The incident came a month after the downing of a Russian airliner, also an Airbus A321, over Egypt on 31 October, for which a group affiliated with ISIS claimed responsibility.
