H. Kong business activity remains contracted at 49.5 in July – PMI
Hong Kong’s private sector continued to contract in July, albeit at a slower pace than the previous month, according to the latest S&P Global/HSBC Hong Kong Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI).
The headline seasonally adjusted index rose to 49.5 in July from 48.2 in June, remaining below the crucial 50-mark that separates growth from contraction.
While the improvement indicates a slight easing of business conditions, the overall picture remains subdued as new orders and output continued to decline.
