Hatem Saleh Reshapes Egyptian Side of Egyptian-Greece Business Council

Both of Egyptian Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, Hatem Saleh, and Greek ambassador to Cairo, Chris Lazaris, have discussed the future of the economic relations between Egypt and Greece, as well as the ways of boosting the intra-region trade and joint investments between the two countries in the upcoming period.

The minister has stated that the meeting discussed reshaping the Egyptian side in the Egyptian- Greek Business Council, in addition to reactivating the role of the council to serve the system of economic cooperation between the two countries.  This would be through holding bilateral meetings in both countries to find the future economic cooperation opportunities and to enhance the trade and investment relations between Egypt and Greece in the coming period. Also the government is about to implement a big program that aims at supporting the transmission of the industrial companies from Europe to Egypt.

Saleh added that Egypt is welcoming the transmission of advanced technological industries and labor-intensive industries to the Egyptian market.

He pointed to the possibility of increasing the rates of trade exchange between Egypt and Greece in the coming period; which reached € 1 billion in 2011, moreover, the possibility of boosting the Greek investments in Egypt, which estimated by $ 464 million.

For his part, Chris Larazis underscored the necessity of boosting the joint economic cooperation between Egypt and Greece in the coming period; referring that the significance of bilateral cooperation can help eliminating the obstacles that Greece investments operating in Egypt face.
