Housing Ministry Responds to the 15th of May City Protesters’ Demands

The Ministry of Housing has promised to respond to the demands filed by the 15th of May City protesters before the end of this week. The protesters have staged a sit-in today in front of the Cabinet, calling upon the Ministry to legalize their ownership of the apartments. They noted that they have bought these apartments from thugs who seized them after the the 25th of January Revolution.

One of the protesters said the Ministry of Housing was supposed to respond to them in the morning. However, it declared that it will make its decision by the end of the day, approving the protesters’ demands to legalize their ownership of the apartments, paying the apartment’s cost by installments, or presenting a statement of the family’s social status according to which the eligibility of the family to obtain the apartment will be determined. He also noted that they will continue their sit-in until their problem gets resolved.

He also refuted the media’s description of the protesters as thugs, highlighting that they have purchased these apartments from the thugs who seized them at EGP 4.000, hoping that the Ministry will handle the situation later. The number of these apartments has amounted to 400.
