IATA can’t comment on Egyptair plane disappearance due to insufficient data

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) cannot provide a comment on the disappearance of EgyptAir flight MS804 en route from Paris to Cairo as it as does not have enough information, IATA Corporate Communications Assistant Miriam Ashong said Thursday.

EgyptAir Flight MS804 departed from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris at 23:09 GMT. The aircraft was heading for Cairo International Airport. According to the airline, there were a total of 66 people on board the plane, including 56 passengers.

“Unfortunately IATA cannot offer any comments at the moment as we do not yet have sufficient information and will be premature to speculate,” Ashong said.

The Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry said earlier in the day that the reasons that caused the disappearance of the EgyptAir aircraft over the Mediterranean Sea remained unknown.
