Indonesia plans to stop fuel imports in 5 yrs

The Indonesian government aims to halt fuel oil imports within the next five years, President Prabowo Subianto announced on Monday.

“I believe that soon we will no longer import fuel. I am confident that within five years, we will stop importing fuel,” Prabowo added.

To combat poverty and enhance public welfare, Indonesia must prioritise transforming its natural resources into finished goods and industrial products, the president emphasised.

In addition to energy independence, the South Asian country is targeting food self-sufficiency, which it expects to achieve by 2027.
