Industry Officially Approves Establishing Ready-Made Garments Chamber At FEI

The Egyptian Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, Eng. Hatem Saleh, has approved the establishment of a ready-made garments chamber at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), to be separate from the Egyptian Chamber of Textile Industries (ECTI), which is headed by Mohamed Al Morshedy.

Mohamed El-Sewedy, Deputy President of FEI, stressed the significance of this decision in developing the ready-made garments sector; referring that this decision is to contribute to increasing the Egyptian exports, as the sector’s exports in 2012 attained EGP 2 billion.

It is worth mentioning that a large number of ready-made garments makers and producers have called for establishing a new separate chamber; pointing out that the sector’s importance represents 70% of the textile sector.
