Egypt’s government-led Informal Settlements Development Facility (ISDF) is allocating around 84.6 million Egyptian pounds ($4.7 million) for developing unsafe slums and unplanned areas in New Valley governorate.

The finances are non-refundable designed for the slum development scheme in the governorate, 733 km (455.9 miles) of Cairo in the southwestern part of Egypt between the Nile, northern Sudan, and southeastern Libya, ISDF executive director Khaled Seddik said Thursday.

The scheme will include developing the unsafe slums; Balat Al-Islamiya and Old Mot in addition to the unplanned areas; Mashrabiyet Gheith and El-Sheikh Maimon, and three makeshift markets; Baris, Balat, and Al Khat El Bahary, Seddik added.
