Ismailia Bombing ‘Cowardly Terrorist’ Act: Military Spokesperson

Egyptian military spokesperson Ahmed Ali has labelled the car bomb explosion outside an Ismailia military intelligence building on Saturday a “terrorist attack” against the Egyptian people.

In a statement released on his Facebook page Saturday, Ali confirmed that a car bomb targeting the military intelligence building left six army personnel injured.

“This is a continuation of a series of cowardly terrorist attacks committed by sectarian factions against the people of Egypt,” he added.

The bomb also caused partial damage to the building’s exterior walls, Ali explained.

A car bomb exploded near an army intelligence building in Ismailia, northeast of Cairo, security sources and state media reported earlier on Saturday.

Sources said a second undetonated car bomb was located during a security sweep of the area, Reuters reported.

Since the popularly-backed military ouster of former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July, security personnel have faced escalating attacks by alleged militants in response to Morsi’s removal.
