‘Israeli obstacles’ impede aid delivery to Gaza – minister

“Israeli obstacles” such as truck inspection are impeding delivery of aid to Gaza through Egypt’s Rafah crossing, said Egypt’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

“The trucks must be inspected at the Israeli Nitzana crossing before they head to the Rafah crossing on a journey that takes a distance of 100 km (62 miles)” a ministry spokesperson said in a statement.

According to the statement, this “causes obstacles that significantly delay the arrival of aid,”

The Rafah crossing is the main point of aid delivery since Israel put Gaza under a siege since the 7th of October.

Before the attack and siege on Gaza started, around 500 trucks a day were crossing into Gaza.

According to the U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday, an average of 12 trucks a day have entered since the aggression.

Gaza’s besieged people are having barely any communications with the outside world since Saturday due to intense Israeli airstrikes.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 7,700 have been killed, at least 3,038 of which are children.
