Jordan’s tourism rates rise 51.3% in January-July period

Jordan’s tourism rates rose by 51.3 percent with a “remarkable” number of visitors to the Kingdom during the first seven months of 2023, the Tourism Ministry said on Wednesday.

The Kingdom welcomed an “unprecedented” total of 3,720,259 tourists during that period.

The ministry also said there was a 47 percent increase in the number of overnight tourists during the January-July period, amounting to 3,085,145 guests, in comparison to the same period last year.

Overnight tourists from Asian countries were up by 145.9 percent compared with the same period in 2022.

There was also an 85.8 percent increase in overnight tourists from European countries during the aforementioned period, followed by the US, which rose by 78.1 percent.

In July, 694,207 tourists visited the Jordan, with an increase of 21.7 percent in comparison to the same month in 2022.

According to the Central Bank of Jordan, tourism revenues soared 59.4 percent, to reach approximately 2.450 billion Jordanian Dinar during the first half of 2023.
