‘Kahraba’ is running for Africa’s most promising talent award

Zamalek’s international winger Mahmoud “Kahraba” Abdel-Moneam is the only Egyptian player to remain in the race for this year’s CAF player’s awards after being named in the final list for the most promising player in the continent.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed on Monday its list for the most promising talent in Africa, which includes Nigerian pair Azubuike Okechukwu and Etebo Oghenekaro, Malian goalkeeper Djigui Diarra, and Algeria’s U-23 striker Zinedine Ferhat.

Kahraba, who joined Zamalek from ENPPI last summer, made headlines after his strong performances with the Egyptian Champions, helping them win the Egypt Cup.

The 21-year-old is also a key member in the Pharaohs squad as he played six of Egypt’s seven international games this year, scoring a goal against Chad in the Nations Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Egyptian referee Gehad Grisha was named in the list of referee of the year with Alioum Neant of Cameroon, Bakary Gassama of Gambia, Eric Arnaud Otogo of Gabon and Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe.

The winners will be announced at the Glo-CAF Awards on 7 January 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.
