Kia America is recalling 80,255 Niro EV, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid vehicles in the US due to potential safety risks with airbags and seat belts, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced Saturday.
The recall addresses concerns that airbags and seat belts may deploy improperly or unintentionally, increasing the risk of injury during a crash. Impacted models include the 2017-2022 Kia Niro Hybrid, the 2018-2022 Niro Plug-in Hybrid, and the 2023 Niro EV vehicles.
Kia will notify owners and provide free inspections and repairs starting in March. Vehicle owners can check the NHTSA website for further details and recall status.
