Leather Chamber To Submit Its Demands To New Industry Minister

Leather Tanning Chamber of FEI, Federation of Egyptian Industries, will submit a memorandum tomorrow to the minister of industry, Hatem Salah; including the main demands and decisions which the makers and workers of the sector are calling for.

Hamdi Harb, the chamber chairman, pointed out that their demands concern implementing resolution (660), which enjoins the importers to provide inspection certificates from accredited international authority (ILAC), the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation, and implementing the fees on the free zones and designated areas with 30%. He referred that delaying this resolution was due to the pressures of the traders and importers on the minister.

He said the period of the former minister was a big drop caused many problems because of delaying the implementation of this resolution for five times. This resulted in emerging mafia for importing leather not conform to the selling specifications during the coming months. The chairman warned of the effects of the leather which not conform to the specifications.
