Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity said on Wednesday that a limited fire at the Al Naqra Main 220/66 kV transformer station in Aswan Governorate was brought under control. Electricity was restored to most farms, irrigation stations, and residential communities affected by the outage within 15 to 35 minutes.
The ministry stated that the fire broke out in one of the station’s transformers, which has a capacity of 225 MVA, resulting in the isolation of the station’s two other transformers and causing a temporary power outage affecting some farms and irrigation stations within the station’s service area.
Following the intervention of civil protection forces and the disconnection of power supply to the station, alternative power sources were secured to restore electricity to the affected areas.
