Maha Ghanem first female university head in Upper Egypt

Maha Ghanem became the first woman president of the Asyut University in Upper Egypt.
Doctor Ghanem started serving in her current position on the 6th of February, shortly after she was selected Vice President of the university in late December of 2022.

Ghanem was born in 1964 to a mayor father, she married Hesham Mostafa Kamel, head of radiology department in Asyut University.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in medicine in 1987 from Asyut University, to pursue her education and get a master’s degree in 1992 and a doctorate in 1999. She started working as a teaching assistant in the university in 1991. She became the deputy of the school of Medicine in 2015 and until 2019.

In 2009 she was awarded by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) for her effort and researches. In addition to Honours from the faculty of Medicine in Asyut University.

Ghanem said she was always responsible towards her studies at a very young age. As well as respect towards her respect towards her country and the people around her.
