Mark to open the first physical store in Metaverse Bet

Meta platforms Inc is opening its first physical store where shoppers have the opportunity to try and buy the virtual reality headsets and other tools.

Last week, Mark Zuckerberg posted a picture using a headset in the store asking people to guess where he was.

The company plans to take its highly promoted metaverse mainstream. The store is 1,550-square feet at the company’s Burlingame campus in California set to open its doors on May 9, Meta said on Monday. It will feature demos for its Quest 2 VR headset and video calling device Portal, as well as smart glasses it produces with Ray-Ban.

It will be easier for the online shoppers to buy the Meta virtual devices through a new shopping tab on meta.com, the company said.

Shoppers are awaiting the new version of the Quest 2 VR headset, likely to released in the second quarter. As, it considers an important turning point to the company’s metaverse plans, analysts’ expectations.

Meta also said it would charge a 47.5 percent fee from creators of digital experiences and assets. This suggestion has attracted criticism from some app developers.

In 2021, the company changed its name to Meta to reflect its risky shift in focus to building “the metaverse”. It imagined as a hyper realistic digital world and one that requires VR hardware to participate in.
