Minister of Agriculture Considers Extending Deadline for Legalizing Encroached Plots

In his Sunday meeting with Dr. Ali Ismail, Chairman of the General Authority for Reconstruction Projects and Agricultural Development, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Dr. Salah Abdel Moamen has considered the Authority’s request to extend the period for submitting demands calling for legalizing laying hands on desert lands without referring to authorities that occurred before 2006, given that the  deadline was scheduled to be last month.

Following the meeting, Ismail added that the Authority has presented a memorandum to the Minister of Agriculture concerning this issue, in order to offer an opportunity for people who have encroached plots to legally obtain them before taking any action against them, given that their number is increasing. This was reported by MENA.

He added that both individuals and companies are allowed to keep their plots in case that these plots are not subject to dispute with any other entities or people, in addition to being well-planted.

Ismail also pointed out that the Authority will launch an actual survey on the cultivated area, noting that the Authority will sign an immediate contract with those who have reclaimed and cultivated their plots within one month as of the date of applying and paying off the country’s dues.
