Ministry: Eni Discovery Proves Mediterranean Area To Be Large Reservoir

Spokesman for the Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry Hamdy Abdel-Aziz said that the great gas discovery made by the Italian Company Eni in Egypt proves that the Mediterranean area is a large reservoir.

Italy’s Eni has discovered gas reserves of up to 30 trillion cubic feet in Egypt offshore the Mediterranean.

Abdel-Aziz pointed out that the newly discovered “Shorouk” field will open the door for more promising discoveries in future and encourage foreign companies to invest in the Mediterranean.
