Moatz Azaiza: GQ Middle East man of the year

Palestinian photographer Motaz Azaiza was chosen as GQ Middle East’s man of the year 2023 on Thursday.

The 24-year-old photographer has been documenting the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza since it began on the seventh of October.

He has been receiving lots of death threats and call for him to stop and leave Gaza, to which he responded with “I’ll never leave my lovely strip behind,”

“Much like his peers on the ground in Gaza, he reminds us that no matter who we are or where we’re from, it’s us – ordinary people, men, and women – who have the power to enact that very change that we want to see.” said GQ Middle East in their instagram post.

They also said that they pray for his safety as he continues to “bravely speak truth to power”
