Mobinil Files LE 418 M Lawsuit Against Etisalat Misr

Egyptian mobile operator Mobinil (EMOB) has filed a lawsuit against the Egyptian arm of Abu Dhabi-based mobile operator Etisalat for LE 418 million, Sources revealed according to AlMasry AlYoum newspaper.

The sources added that the dispute was one of the main reasons for the Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat Misr, Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, visit to the minister of communication.

A source in Mobinil revealed that the reason for the dispute was due to the Interconnect fees, Which Etisalat insists on calculating based on the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) decision, issued in 2008, while Mobinil calculates it based on an agreement between the two companies.

Egypt’s Administrative Court issued a ruling to cancel the NTRA’s decision.

The source added that the disputed amount includes the company’s fees and delay penalties and interests and that his company sought to resolve the dispute amicably, but the second party refused to pay.
