Morsi Sacks Prosecutor General, Orders Mubarak-era Officials Retrial

In his statement on Thursday, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi issued several decisions. He issued a new constitutional declaration prevents dissolving the Constituent Assembly, and protects the presidential decree. Also the decision concerns re-trialing the deposed president Mubarak and the former regime figures over killing the protestors’ cases. As to the prosecutor general, President Morsi amended the law concerns the prosecutor general that should be appointed by the Judiciary power for four-year term, pursuant to presidential decree. Talaat Abdallah Ibrahim is engaged as a prosecutor general. He was a prominent figure of the independence movement in the Judges Club. He also disclosed the rigged elections in 2005.
