Mubarak’s Name To Be Removed From Egypt Squares And Public Facilities

Egypt’s administrative court ordered on Tuesday that the name of ousted autocrat Hosni Mubarak and his wife Suzanne be removed from the country’s squares and public facilities.

The verdict comes after at least three years of court sessions. The lawsuit was filed shortly after Mubarak was toppled in early 2011 following 18 days of mass protests demanding an end to his 30-year rule, infamous for growing corruption and police brutality.

The name of the ousted president has already been removed from many places, including an underground metro-station in downtown, which was changed to ‘The Martyrs’ to honour the hundreds who died during the 18-day uprising.
