New delta plant in Egypt sets 4 Guinness World Records

The New Delta Agriculture Wastewater Treatment, Recycling, and Reuse Plant achieved four Guinness World Records (GWR) on Monday.

The plant is the world’s largest water treatment facility spanning over 320,600 square metres.

It is also the largest water treatment plant with a capacity of 86.8 m3 per second, it holds the largest epoxy coating in a station spanning over 520,339 square metres, and the largest sludge treatment plant with a capacity of 670.01 kilograms.

The plant was developed by Metito, Orascom Construction, Arab Contractors, and Hassan Allam Construction.

It was also mandated by the Ministry of Defense, Armed Forces Engineering Authority Water Department, and it is capable of treating 7.5 million cubic metres of water per day.

The plant also provides irrigation for over 1.2 million acres of agricultural land west of the Nile Delta.

This will help address pollution concerns in Marriott Lake and the Mediterranean Sea coast in Alexandria.

Moreover, it redirects wastewater and floodwaters away from Beheira governorate to protect existing Delta areas.
