New York Times to replace its Sunday travel section with coverage of life during coronavirus

The New York Times announced on Thursday it is replacing its Sunday travel and sport print sections with new coverage of life during the coronavirus pandemic, called At Home.

Travel will temporarily stop production, while sports news will shift into the first section of the newspaper, according to the company’s memo.

Travel editor Amy Virshup will oversee At Home, which will cover what to watch, listen to, read, cook, make, and play, and will also include virtual travel guides and beauty tips and “what’s happening in the night skies.”

The memo also said that the travel section would return when the pandemic eases.
