Nides Encourages Corporate Social Responsibility in Egypt

In his speech delivered on the 9th of September in Cairo, Thomas Nides, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, called upon American businessmen to expand their investments in Egypt, praising corporate social responsibility that can accelerate comprehensive growth.

In a meeting sponsored by the U.S. Egypt Business Council and the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, Nides supported social responsibility programs that are up to bringing actual change to life and boosting the economy.  He also pointed out that women-oriented programs-including vocational training and the program designed for developing local health clinics- enhances women’s participation in building the country’s economy.

Representatives of a number of companies such as Exxon Mobil, Pepsico, and Microsoft have highlighted their efforts to achieve Egypt’s social and economic goals. The session also included presentations given by representatives of Cisco, Apache, and Coca Cola. The meeting’s orientation then turned into how the private sector can promote its business results by investing in people.
