Nokia, Etisal sign agreement to manufacture Nokia phones in Egypt

Nokia mobile has signed a cooperation agreement with Egypt-based Etisal for Advanced Industries (EAI) to increase local production of various Nokia mobile device models to nearly one million by the end of 2022 in Egypt.

Ministry of Communications and International Technology announced in a statement on Saturday that the new mobiles will include the production of feature and smart phones.

This agreement comes as a consolidation of the state’s efforts to create a supportive climate for the growth of international companies’ investments in Egypt, Amr Talaat Minister of Communications, said.

From his side, EAI’s managing director Ahmed Abu Auf said that the agreement works to produce the Nokia mobile phones required by HMD Global OY with international quality, including electronic components, assembly, packaging, and testing.

These completely similar to the international products in quality and efficiency, which achieves Egypt’s strategy in its endeavor to localise the technology industry and make Egypt a regional center for advanced industries.

Egypt is taking steady steps towards deepening local manufacturing in implementation through the presidential initiative Egypt Makes Electronics (EME), mentioned in the statement.

Talaat added the cooperation shows the government’s keenness to motivate the private sector to manufacture within Egyptian factories.

This will help in to transferring the expertise and localise the electronics industry in a way that contributes the development of the electronics industry.

The agreement will specialised job opportunities for young people in the information technology and electronics field, he assured.
