Norwegian Arctic area to be evacuated due deadly avalanches

Norwegian police announced on Saturday plans to evacuate several parts of the Arctic municipality of Tromsoe affected by dangerous landslides.

Friday has witnessed five casualties in three separate avalanches including four dead, the Associated Press reported. New landslides were also reported on Saturday.

Residents and visitors of Tromsoe were advised to stay indoors. The local branch of Red Cross said it is prepared to provide food and medicine in case the area becomes isolated.
