Political conflicts did not harm Turkish economic relations with Egypt: trade minister

Trade and economic relations between Egypt and Turkey had not been affected by political conflicts provoked after 30th of June revolution Egyptian Trade Minister Tarek Qabil stated Wednesday.

He announced that the total volume of Egyptian-Turkish trade exchange reached around US$3 billion in 2015 while the Turkish investments in Egypt recorded $5 billion at the same year

He made these remarks during the press conference that has been held on the sidelines of the 5th D-8 Ministerial Meeting on Industry. The D-8 took place in Cairo on 9-11 May, 2016.

It is set to revisit earlier decisions and review the outcome so far achieved as well as consider restructuring the framework of mechanism, including redistributing the Working Group and Task Forces, within the broad spectrum of D-8 cooperation.

The D-8 Ministers would also discuss the vision and action plan for the Industrial cooperation among the D-8 Member States, Terms of Reference (ToR) of all Task Forces on Industrial Cooperation, implementation of programme and common projects, pragmatic approach to move in the direction of expanding industrial and technological cooperation, policies and measures towards increasing industrial and market opportunities as well as financial resources.
