Putin blames West for Ukraine war

Russian president Vladimir Putin blamed on Tuesday the west for “fueling the Ukrainian conflict,” during his speech came days before the one-year anniversary of the Russian attack on Ukraine.

Putin spoke about what he calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine, saying that the operation is an attempt to “liberate” the Ukrainian people from their regime, which is holding them hostages.

He blamed the west, specifically USA, for starting the conflict by seeking to have “unlimited power” to control the world affairs.

“The responsibility for fueling the Ukrainian conflict, for its escalation, for the number of victims … lies completely with Western elites” said Putin.

“They started the war and we have done everything to stop it” he added

The west has always denied Putin’s claims, saying that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is “unprovoked”

Since the beginning of the war, almost 8000 civilians have been killed, millions have been displaced, and towns have been reduced to rubble.
