Russia bans rice export until end of 2023

The Government of the Russian Federation has imposed a ban on exports of rice and rice groats until December 31 this year, in a bid to maintain stability in the domestic market.

The ban will not affect the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, South Ossetia and Abkhazia. In addition, rice can be sent abroad for humanitarian assistance, as well as in international transit traffic, according to a statement on Saturday.

Jordan used to import small quantities from the Russian market, but it stopped doing so after the export ban was imposed in mid-2022, the representative of the food sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Jamal Amro, said.
