Russia-Egypt Business Council starts preparations for Sisi’s Moscow Visit

The Russian-Egyptian Business Council is to start preparations for President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s anticipated visit to Moscow, the council’s Chairman Ahmed El Wakeel said Sunday.

Therefore, Wakeel said the council will hold a meeting Monday with Egyptian ambassador to Moscow Mohamed al-Badry to takcle the preparations for president Sisi’s visit.

Sisi’s third visit to Russia is a strong evidence that Russian and Egyptian leaderships are keen to enhance mutual economic and political cooperation in the upcoming period, the chairman stated.

El Wakeel added that the Russian government is set to choose a location to build an industrial zone to be whether in Attaqa in Suez or in North Faiyum.

In July, a Russian mission encompassing 30 firms visited Attaqa in Suez as well as north Fayoum, to review investment privileges to establish industrial zones in one of those areas in the upcoming period.

On other hand, the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) has determined that the industrial zone will be established on a space of 2 million metres to include a number of vital fields, notably engineering and food industries, Chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.

El Wakeel clarified that the presidency has neither set the date of the visit yet nor the possibility of sending an accompanied mission of businessmen and investors.

The chairman emphasised on the visit’s importance to guarantee effective participation from the Russian side in the investment projects set to be launched in Egypt nowadays.
