Russia’s Rosatom inaugurates Cairo office to expand partnership

Russian state nuclear firm Rosatom has on Wednesday inaugurated its office in in Cairo, Egypt.

The office marks a significant milestone in Rosatom’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the North African country, paving the way for new avenues of collaboration in nuclear and non-nuclear sectors, such as medical equipment and nuclear medicine, digital solutions, infrastructure projects and others.

“The opening of Rosatom office in Egypt is a logical continuation of the longstanding relationship between the two nations, which have enjoyed strong diplomatic and economic ties for decades.” Murad Aslanov, director of Rosatom’s country office in Egypt, said in a statement.

“It also marks a new chapter of cooperation, particularly in the field of nuclear and non-nuclear energy, strengthening our partnership and fostering knowledge exchange in various sectors.”

The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Mohamed Ramadan Badawy, vice board chairman for operation and maintenance at the Egyptian Nuclear Power Plants Authority; Mohamed Dwiddar, project manager of El-Dabaa NPP Construction Project; and Alexey Kononenko, ASE JSC vice-president – director for NPP Construction Project. This is in addition to Ahmed Elatik, head of the representative office of JSC (ASE) in Cairo; Alexey Tevanian, trade representative of the Russian Federation in Egypt; Marat Gatin, head of the Russian Cultural Centres in Egypt, along with Rosatom’s distinguished business partners in Egypt.

During the event, Murad Aslanov gave a presentation of Rosatom’s global cutting-edge technologies and solutions, emphasising the company’s commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation.

“Looking ahead, Rosatom sees a promising future in the Egyptian market. Of particular significance is Rosatom’s ongoing construction of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Egypt.”

“We are confident that our collaboration with Egypt will yield remarkable results and drive the country’s sustainable development agenda, support Egypt’s ambitious goals and contribute to its overall progress,” Aslanov concluded.
