Samsung seizes the “Device Manufacturer of the Year” award by GSMA

Samsung’s mobile device innovations and the Android-powered GALAXY S II are awarded much deserved titles in Mobile World Congress 2012

Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd., the leading mobile phone provider was named “Device Manufacturer of the Year” by GSMA -global organization that represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry- during the annual Mobile World Congress 2012, GSMA also named Samsung’s Galaxy S II the “Best Smartphone”. Awards were announced in a ceremony hosted by Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Spain, as these awards highlight Samsung’s dedication to the introduction of innovative devices that meet users’ needs and preferences.

Samsung’s Mobile devices portfolio offers users the world’s widest range of mobile phones, tablets, multimedia players and mobile related products and solutions; from cutting-edge smart mobile devices to mass-market smartphones; that have been successful in dominating the mobile phone markets.

Samsung’s flagship device; Galaxy S II was recognized for its powerful performance and the overwhelming variety of features it offers, as Samsung recently announced their global sales of the device had surpassed 20 million units in just 10 short months; making it the fastest selling phone in Samsung history.

Awards such as this one are a testament to Samsung’s innovation, quality products, and attention to consumer preferences. In 2011, Samsung sold over 97 million smartphones; a clear indicator that we are on the right track,” and he added “The GALAXY S II has set a new standard for smartphones, taking speed, screen and content to a whole new level. We are extremely proud of how this device has changed the way the market and consumers experience mobile technology.”

At the Mobile World Congress 2012, Samsung continued to demonstrate its passion for innovation with GALAXY Note 10.1, a new device category with an immersive 10.1’’ screen and S Pen versatility, and the GALAXY Beam, a projector smartphone that enables a unique instant sharing experience around digital content. These new additions to the GALAXY device range are expected to build on the success that the brand has already developed in the market.
