Schneider Electric, ITIDA to build engineering lab in Egyptian tech park

The Egyptian Ministry of Communications’ Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) signed Tuesday a preliminary agreement with French industrial group Schneider Electric to establish and equip an engineering laboratory at the Borg El Arab technological park.

According to the MoU, Schneider Electric will establish an engineering lab equipped with a 3D universal simulator for design of multi-axis motion machines. ITIDA will be responsible for organising training programmes for university students at the innovation cluster at the technological park in Borg El Arab. The lab would contribute to developing the engineering skills for professionals, entrepreneurs, and students as one of the services provided by the company.

This comes as part of the strategic partnership between the two sides to train experts in the latest applications and technological solutions, which aims to improve efficiency of managing energy and control machines. The cooperation also focuses on developing scientific research, as a first step in the company’s plan to be present in all technological parks in Egypt.

Egyptian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Yasser al-Qady said that the ministry is keen on activating partnerships with major developers of technology to exchange knowledge and localise technology, in addition to stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship.

Qady added that the ministry has an integrated strategy for cooperation with global and local companies in implementing national projects, through which the government can integrate smart technologies to run smart cities and technological parks with the factories that use technology, so as to improve efficiency and rationalise consumption.
