Shahid releases new Adel Emam documentary

Shahid has released a new documentary, Adel Emam…Egyptian Memory, on Friday, highlighting the political and social impact of Egyptian actor, Adel Emam, over his 60-year long career.

The Al Arabiya-produced 51-minute documentary showcases Adel Emam’s roles that tackled terrorism, his relationship with politicians, how he addresses local and regional issues like sectarian violence and the Palestinian cause.

The documentary features rare archival footage, including interviews with guests including former politicians and ministers Mostafa Elfeki, Helmy El-Namnam, and Farouk Hosny, writer Emad Adib, critic Magda Mourice, and composer Mody El Emam.

The documentary also revealed an assassination attempt targeting Emam by Mohamed Krum, a member of an Islamic terrorist group, following the release of Emam’s 1994 movie, The Terrorist.

“We could produce twenty successful documentaries about Adel Emam,” said Randa Abul Azm, Al Arabiya’s Egypt Bureau Chief.

Emam, born in 1940, is one of Egyptian cinema and TV’s icons, with over 100 movie, TV series, and plays.
