Shakira’s real estate portfolio

Colombian Singer and UNICEF goodwill ambassador, Shakira, has been adding to her real estate portfolio since 2001, including properties in the US, Uruguay, Spain, Cyprus and the Bahamas, following the release of her first English-language album, Laundry Service.

Shakira’s properties showcase a minimalist style, which is characterised by simplicity and a monochromatic palette.

Miami mansion

As Shakira rose to fame, she bought her first mansion in Miami, Florida in 2001, a Mediterranean-style home for $1.075 million on La Gorce Island in Biscayne Bay.

The home, which was built in 1988, has four bedrooms, three and a half baths, a garden, patio and a pool. Shakira sold the mansion in 2005 for $1.8 million.

Shakira bought another mansion on La Gorce Island, with six bedrooms, a dock with 100 feet of access to the bay. The mansion was built in 1951, and was updated over the years, including Shakira’s modifications, as she added three bedrooms.

Shakira collaborated with architects, Ben Lopez and Associates, and interior decorator, Renata Lessa Bastos, they described her style as bright, warm, with a mixture of white textures and traces of her Lebanese and Middle Eastern heritage.

Shakira has been putting the mansion for sale over the years, putting it on the market for $11.648 million in 2018 with her brother, Antonio Mebarak, as her real estate agent, until finally being sold for $15.9 million in 2021.

La Gorce Island is an exclusive private island that has been home to celebrities like Cher, Matt Damon and Ricky Martin.

Uruguay Farm House

Shakira has shared a farm house called La Colorada with her then partner, Antonio de la Rúa in 2000, the farm, which is a 12 acre property, had seven bedrooms near Punta del Este in Uruguay.

Shakira used the farm house as a vacation spot and creative retreat, where she spent a month in 2008 to work on her new music at that time, she had a two story recording studio in the property’s barn. Shakira lost the house to de la Rúa following their split.

Esplugues de Llobergat house

Shakira settled in with her following partner, Gerard Piqué, in the home they built in Esplugues de Llobergat, Barcelona, in 2012, the five-story house includes a gym, recording studio cinema, pool, multiple terraces and a guest house with a pool.

Shakira was charged with tax evasion in 2018, as prosecutors claimed she was a Spain resident from 2012 to 2014, while Shakira said she was resident at the Bahamas then officially moved to the Esplugues de Llobergat in 2015.

The house became Shakira’s family’s primary residence, until her and Piqué’s split in 2022, the couple reached a custody and Shakira left Barcelona with her two sons to live in her Miami mansion in 2023.

Avenida Pearson house

Shakira and Piqué bought another house in Avenida Pearson in Barcelona for $5.4 million, the house is 16,000 foot, with seven bedrooms, two kitchens, a gym and a pool with a waterfall.

Cyprus Farm House

Shakira bought a six-bedroom holiday house in the Paphos District of Cyprus that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. The house has eight bathrooms, a home cinema, a private gym, a Jacuzzi, and a private pool.
