Shares in Egypt end week trade 1.47% higher

Egyptian stocks traded higher Thursday as main index, EGX30 surged 1.47 percent, to 8030.85 points.

Other indices; EGX50 EWI index dropped 0.43 percent, at 1384.53 points; while EGX20 added 0.13 percent, to 8351.01 points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 tumbled 0.38 percent, to 362.49 points. Price index, EGX100 gained 0.30 percent, to 784.91 points.

Market Cap

Market capitalisation posted gains worth around 2 billion Egyptian pounds ($214 billion), to record 415.836 billion pounds during the closing session of Thursday.

Turnovers

The bourse’s trading volume reached 189.145 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 803.361 million pounds, exchanged through 22,945 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 175 listed securities have been traded in, 89 declined, 47 advanced; while 38 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local investors were net sellers capturing 70.79 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 60.011 million pounds, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, Arab and non-Arab foreign investors remained net sellers controlling 7.11 and 22.1 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 9.992 million pounds and 56.018 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.
