Shares in Egypt start new week 0.2% higher

Egypt’s stock market ended higher on Sunday on local investors’ buying appetite. Main index, EGX30 surged 0.22 percent, to 7599.64 points.

Other indices; EGX50 EWI index grew 0.71 percent, to 1361.38 points; while EGX20 rose 0.51 percent, to 7983.65 points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 increased 0.09 percent, to 360.08 points. Price index, EGX100 added 0.06 percent, to 770.11 points.

Market Caps

Market capitalisation gained 1.3 billion Egyptian pounds ($146.5 million), to record 405.667 billion pounds during the closing session of Sunday.

Turnovers

The bourse’s trading volume reached 182.334 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 648.542 million pounds, exchanged through 16,779 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 161 listed securities have been traded in, 50 declined, 68 advanced; while 38 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local investors were net buyers capturing 91.41 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 30.174 million pounds, excluding the deals

On the contrary, Arab and non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers controlling 5.38 and 3.21 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 15.937 million pounds and 14.236 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.
