Shares in Egypt start new week trade 0.59% lower

Egyptian stocks traded lower on Sunday as main index, EGX30 lost 0.59 percent, to 7983.15 points.

Other indices; EGX50 EWI index dropped 0.71 percent, to 1374.72  points; while EGX20 fell 0.84 percent, to 8280.68 points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 tumbled 0.26 percent, to 361.56 points. Price index, EGX100 declined 0.26 percent, to 782.83 points.

Market Cap

Market capitalisation lost around 2 billion Egyptian pounds ($225 million), to record 413.853 billion pounds during the closing session of Sunday.

Turnovers

The bourse’s trading volume reached 98.273 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 362.460 million pounds, exchanged through 14,775 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 172 listed securities have been traded in, 92 declined, 24 advanced; while 54 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab investors were net buyers capturing 6.51 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 2.867 million pounds, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local and non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers controlling 85.99 and 7.5 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 1.218 million pounds and 1.649 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.
