Siemens signs Contracts to carry out 3 Power Plants in Egypt

Egyptian Electricity Ministry signs contracts with German Siemens Wednesday to implement three power plants with total capacity of 14.400 megawatts (MW), Mohamed Shaker – minister- told reporters.

The three plants will be established, as soon as possible, in Beni Suef Governorate, Burullus area in Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate, and the new administrative capital, Shaker stated.

Shaker made these remarks on the sidelines of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s visit to Germany to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the German president Joachim Gauck.

He elaborated that Egypt is set to get the first 4.400 megawatts (MW) in May 2017.

The minister clarified that Egypt will also sign an agreement with Siemens to establish factory for manufacturing the equipments necessary for plants and windmills to generate 2.000 megawatts (MW) in seven years.

He asserted that the generated electricity from the three plants and the windmills will add 50% of the maximum usage in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Moreover, Shaker emphasized that Egypt cares to cooperate with Germany in renewable energy field as it is one of the largest states that manufacture electricity power’s equipments.
