Sisi inaugurates Black Sand plant in Egypt’s Kafr El Sheikh

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has inaugurated on Wednesday the Black Sand Plant in Burls, Kafr El Sheikh governorate, according to the presidential spokesman Bassam Rady’s statement.

The plant aims to extract minerals from black sands to be used in many delicate industries, which would open up prospects for investments that supports the national economy and the comprehensive development process.

The most important minerals extracted from black sands are ilmenite, zircon, garnet, rutile, monazite, and magnet.

The plant is the latest of its kind in the world using advanced mining technology, and a new addition to the series of major national projects that aim to maximise the optimal exploitation of Egypt’s natural resources.
